I had the privilege of shooting for PrincetonScoop yesterday, for an article on Princeton’s newest (and most anticipated) restaurant, Agricola! It was a fun morning for this foodie-photographer – the chance to have a behind-the-scenes tour with Proprietor Jim Nawn and Executive Chef Josh Thomsen, and have free reign to take photos along the way. I truly could have stayed for hours. I’d like to say my images do justice to the interesting decor, attention to detail, and the warm inviting feel – but they do not. You simply have to go see it for yourselves.

This restaurant appeals to me on so many levels: I am a big fan of the farm-to-table movement and community-supported agriculture, and have a huge amount of respect for anyone trying to make it work – because it is undoubtedly very hard work. Great Road Farm, just outside of town in Skillman, provides the restaurant with fresh vegetables, eggs, and more – and you can even buy shares of the farm’s CSA to have the same great vegetables at home!

Princeton is my hometown, so any time there is a worthwhile venture helping drive business downtown I can’t help but feel some excitement and pride. I also love that the restaurant resides in the space that Lahiere’s occupied for so many years – and that the old sign is still up. It feels familiar, yet fresh. And so totally cool. I can’t wait to actually taste the food! I already made my reservation for dinner with friends in a few weeks :)
